Summer is almost here and for many of us that means really wanting to get into shape. Getting physically fit can mean a lot for many people.
The reason behind this is because so many people want to look good for the beach or look at for a wedding or social event or another thing.
There’s a big question behind all of this: Why do they want to get into shape only for summer? Why did they not think about this months ago or even last year?
There are many answers to this question but the problem is due to the fact that many people will try to rush and cause much more damage than they want in the long term. Damage, in this article’s sense, is the rebound effect that happens after a rapid weight loss period.
The ‘damage’ usually happens after a crash diet. For example, if a very active person cuts their calories to only 1,000 a day they will lose a good amount of total body weight. But this weight loss is not just fat weight, it can also be muscle as well which is not ideal.
A fat loss phase for summer should begin months beforehand so you have time to achieve your goal and it doesn’t have to be rushed. Many crash diets may cause weight loss but after this period many people bounce back and gain much more weight due to complacency.
The impact of this can be negated altogether by dieting properly over a longer period of time and really dialing your nutrition. Getting your nutrition right is key to all of this. If you get that right you are taking a big step in the correct direction.
After getting your nutrition dialed, the next step is to figure out a workout program for your goals. Ideally you would be lifting weights multiple times a week but there are other options. If you like to get out and go hiking or go on a run or go swimming or whatever it may be, go for it. The most important thing is being active around one hour per day. Having this much activity will keep your metabolism going and allow you to burn fat off effortlessly.
A fat loss phase takes time and it’s really important to remember this. Now how does all of this play into this summer?
Honestly, it doesn’t to a large degree. To truly succeed, you have to remember be in it for the long term game and not the short term. If you start to work on your nutrition right now and incorporate some type of exercise every day you will start to see results, slowly build your fitness level over the summer time and by next summer you will be looking fantastic! Patience is the key. If you are patient you will love the results you execute on.
